Hi, I’m Pushba Thangaraju
BComm (IT), PgDipPsych, MaPsych (Clinical)
AHPRA Registered Clinical Psychologist/Board Approved Supervisor
Based in Melbourne, Australia
I am a trauma informed clinical psychologist. I’m trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Schema Therapy and have experience working with clients for more than 9 years. Prior to becoming a psychologist, I worked as a Business Analyst and Project Officer for over 15 years in the corporate and government sectors. I was surrounded by people who were very stressed during that time. We all start out in life with problems, myself included, so adding stress and unhealthy coping mechanisms can be detrimental to wellbeing if it involves anxiety, neglect and avoidance as well.
My goal now is to help people resolve psychological trauma, anxiety, significant life transitions, or work burnout in a safe and effective manner. Symptoms of depression, panic attacks, mood swings and self-sabotage are often manifestations of unresolved psychological events. For some, these conditions stem from difficult events and others a life without enough love and connection. In contrast to other therapies that focus on symptom management, I work with therapies that focus on resolving the underlying cause of symptoms and ultimately, resolution.
My interests include: sharing good food and conversation with friends and family, exploring new places (travel, nature, restaurants, galleries) and engaging in creative art/home projects.
